Charitable art exhibition, Helsinki 12.12.2020 - 31.1.2021
M’Ateria is a wordplay combining French and Finnish.
M’ is shortened French for mine/my.
Ateria is Finnish for nutrition/meal.
There are three aspects why this name best illustrates the exhibition and our combination with art & food.
- Art feeds us. Creativity provides for my income and food for my table.
- Your spirit gets edified while spending time with art. In Finnish, there’s a saying ‘art is nutrition for the soul’, and we find it quite true.
- We made it also practical by having weekly food aid in the gallery. Freely given groceries in the beautiful gallery environment with a calming atmosphere. With the help of our art sales, friends, partners, and visitors, we were able to hand out many free grocery bags and help our community struggling because of financial changes caused by covid.
Äni got the calling to make this art exhibition on a private prayer time in early March 2020.
The name, the cause, and the Bible scripture for it became very clear. Many times it looked like it was a mission impossible, but thankfully after many turns of events, the artists were able to exhibit safely and freely with an extra month.
The exhibition was in beautiful and spacious Arabia 135 which is historical building for Finnish art and design. This was made possible thanks to our partners Innovation Home, Wings of Saints & Christian Art & Media.
